I've marked hundreds of EPQs. I know exactly what examiners look for — and I teach students how to deliver it.
Who I am.
I'm a Senior Leader in education with over 20 years of teaching experience and a teaching qualification from Cambridge University. I've spent a decade specialising in EPQ — mentoring students through every stage of the qualification and working as a Principal Examiner, writing A-level exam questions and marking student papers for the exam boards.
What I love most about the EPQ is the journey students go on. They become the experts in their own content — my job is to be the expert in how to get them through the qualification. I learn alongside every student I work with, and it's genuinely rewarding to watch them develop, grow, and discover what they're capable of.
My sessions are direct, practical, and built around you. I won't tell you your work is great when it isn't — but I will always tell you exactly how to make it better, and I'll be with you every step of the way.

Process over panic
Most EPQ stress comes from not knowing what to do next. My job is to give you a clear process so you always know where you are and what comes next.
Honest feedback
I'll tell you what's working and what isn't. Vague encouragement doesn't help you improve — specific, actionable feedback does.

I'm not here to write your EPQ for you. I'm here to help you think more clearly, argue more precisely, and produce work that's genuinely yours — just better.
The examiner's perspective
Having marked EPQs myself, I know what separates a B from an A*. I teach students to see their work through the examiner's eyes.
Why EPQ matters
Why I think the EPQ is worth doing properly.
The EPQ is one of the few qualifications at A-Level that asks students to think independently. Done well, it develops skills that most undergraduates don't acquire until their second or third year — how to frame a research question, build a sustained argument, evaluate sources critically, and write with genuine analytical depth.
Universities notice. A strong EPQ title on a personal statement signals intellectual curiosity and the ability to work independently. Several Russell Group universities actively ask about it at interview. Many universities will also lower their entry requirements for students who achieve an A or A* — making it one of the most valuable qualifications a sixth-former can take.
But more than the grade or the UCAS points, students who do their EPQ properly come out of it with a different relationship to learning. That's what I'm really trying to help them build.
